Sunlight Delight

Oil on Board 8*10
I noticed these trees with the strong shadows it was kinda cool I did take a photograph of the scene and it didn't come out as nice as I thought.
But I captured the feel of the place.
I did get lost sometimes because I forgot the reason why I was painting and luckily I wrote down on my notan what it was I wanted to achieve.

Silver birch forest

Oil on Board 10*12
I wanted to try something different and a little challenging so I Found some trees where the sunlight shone through. This is was painted on Priddis Valley Drive.
When I first painted I had too much light on the upper right tree so I had to tone it down a little  and put more light on the front tree to get it to settle and sit back properly. I also added more light and shadow to take it away from a middle value painting.
I love the sense of depth with this one.

Little Stream

Oil on board 8*10
This painting is the same place where the Rock painting was painted.

Summer fields

Oil on board 11*14
I decided to repost this one as it got buried in another post

Rushing stream.

Oil on Board 10*12
This is the same river just a little further down, I am glad I found this place as it's quiet and away from people, I just like the peace and quiet of a running stream.
The rocks were nicely laid out in a Z formation I did edit out a few rocks not too many and I guess I will try a little lighter next time.

Kananaskis River.

oil on Board 10*12
This is one of those painting at the end of the road. I usually drive till I reach the end then turn around this is the same river as Still waters just further up the stream, I hadn't painted anything like this before so it was a challenge.

Summer sunset.

Oil on board 6*8
I was going to go further down the road to paint the sunset on red deer lake but found this instead
Nice little barn the sun was sinking fast.
I have to tweak this painting a little to push the values a bit more
the back trees could be darker and the light behind them a little lighter.
But I like this little one gives me a sense of the place.

Still Waters

Oil on Board 10*12
Found this place where the light was just hitting it right creating these really nice pools of orange
