Two Onions

With this painting I tried to emulate 'John Singer Sargent' He would mix the paint then hold his brush in the air then wait for the right momment and then place the paint in the right spot, he also would say use lots of paint no thinners mixed.
I did like painting using a lot more paint, it is a little different from what I am used to, as I do paint a little dry. It was fun.

Sugar pot

Todays I tried this, it was tough. Trying to balance the values was hard, is the sugar white, what value is it in relation to the rest of the painting and the highlights. I like the play of the background shadow/light.

Daisy

I wanted to try something I had never really attempted before, a very small flower, I should have painted it first but I got stuck on my darks first and the background, I knew that it would be hard to do, I that leave the center of attention till last and I guess from now on I should battle the fear and just do it. I liked painting the blue bottle and I think that I would paint something like this again.

Strawberries

Our family picked a couple of Icecream buckets worth of strawberries this Summer. I promised them last year that we would do it. The children loved the idea of all those strawberries lined up just for them to pick, and I told them that the front desk weighs you before you go in, and on the way out to see if you have had too many strawberries. They believed me untill we got to the farm and then they knew it was one of Dads jokes.
I decided to paint some strawberries to remind me of that event, here they are, I haven't painted for at least a month and a half so I'm a bit rusty. I just noticed that I had a white space on the painting, urrgh, I went to fill it in and I think I flattened it too much, oh well I guess that happens when you play around with the painting the next day, I just have to take a photo of my painting as soon as I have finnished to see where I have white spots next time.

One of my favourite artists John Moyers

I have had a lot of time at last to myself and reevaluating my painting and having the pleasure of actually building something for myself. Me Boat, I did have a few problems I added the sealent without squishing it flat on the side, I let it dry, then it hardend into lumpy mess. So when it comes for me to fix the trim it wont fit, it is too knobbly, urrgg.
So I had to peel off the sides and then cut off the stuff and start again, only on the front bow and aft, so when I have finnished the trim I will reseal it with the sealent, buy some styrofoam and put it under the seats and take some silicone sealent with me on our first day of launch and lots of bubble gum incase the sealent doesn't work.

This is my one of my Favourite artists work, John Moyers
I admire John Moyers work he paints local scenes alla Plein Air here in the Rockies.
http://www.claggettrey.com is where you can find his work.
I really like his use of his Greys, he puts down that heavy paint and just leaves it there. Here is some of his work.
